Week 3

Week 3: Full swing

We had a great time in Marblehead on Saturday celebrating the fourth of July.  Madey, Sammy, Tommy and I walked around town for a bit and made a stop at the park to hear some music.  Dave, Vivi and Steve checked out the beach.  We all got together around 2 and made our way to Steve's folks' place. We enjoyed some yummy food off the grill while Vivi napped and Sammy took a walk with his grandma. No fireworks due to the unstable water following Hurricane Albert's trip up the coast but still a fun time.

Sunday was low key and included a trip to the gym for Mommy, the Arlington Reservoir and dinner out to Bertucci's as a family.  Yum.

Summer Vacation 2014

Alone with the kids

While I have been home with Thomas for the first seven weeks of his life, Viv has continued to go to daycare. School ended on Wednesday and thus so did daycare. Ahhh!!! Now I am home with both of them for the next two months. What will we do?

Step 1 - hire babysitters. Check.

This will allow me to maintain some sanity as well as complete basic household tasks which otherwise seemingly never get accomplished while I'm on baby duty. I reached out to both an MHS student and one of the teachers at Vivi's daycare to come over for a few hours each week. Phew. Now the prospect of surviving the summer seems a little more attainable.

Step 2 - keep Vivi busy. Ongoing check.

This blog will help me to evaluate how well I am accomplishing step 2. Perhaps if I do too well this blog will be unsuccessful as I will not have time to work on it. Time will tell.

Cross your fingers, folks, for a great Hyman summer!

Week 1

Week 1: Playing, shopping and getting into the groove

Thursday:
I gave Vivi some small spoons and measuring cups and she loved pretending with them all day.  OK, now how to come up with 75 other genius ideas to keep her entertained.

In the afternoon I braved the Burlington Mall with the two of them for the first time by myself.  We searched for Dave's bday present - a wallet he will probably return.  Vivi stayed occupied with the clips on the rumble seat of our Graco sit and stand double stroller (bought for $50 off a Concord mom who advertised in Garden Moms).

Friday:
Melissa babysat and I went to step class - yay! I also went to Target with Tommy.
Dave hung out with some work peeps after work so it was a long day but OK. Vivi loved playing with the bday balloons and a beach ball I got for $1 at Target.

Saturday:
Daddy's birthday!
Hung out together in the morning.  Went for a walk on the Minuteman bike trail.  Discovered Kickstand cafe. Vivi played at playground near Spot Pond.
Lunch at Red Bones with Grandma and Grandpa Hyman.

Melissa babysat at night so Dave and I could get some drinks at Vine Brook Tavern in Lexington.  First time I pumped and dumped ever.

Sunday:
Mommy went to the gym. Daddy watched the kiddos.

After lunch we went to Acton so I could go to Moodz and get my hair recut.

Quiet night at home.
